Elderflower Mint Julep

No, this isn't baked. It's a drink. I'll include a few drink recipes from time to time as well, as I think mixology is as interesting as baking (and far less time consuming). Here is a basic mint julep with the addition of St. Germain elderflower liqueur. I also made a mint-infused syrup to heighten the mint flavor and remove the need to muddle the mint leaves.

To make the mint simple syrup...
briefly boil equal parts sugar and water with fresh mint and allow to cool before storing. You can refrigerate it for 1-2 weeks.

Elderflower Mint Julep
- 8-10 mint leaves
- 1/2 oz mint simple syrup
- 1/4 oz St. Germain
- 2 1/2 oz bourbon
- chipped ice
Add the mint, syrup and St. Germain to glass and stir. Fill the glass 3/4 full with chipped ice. Pour the bourbon over the ice and stir to distribute the syrup mix. Sip.
