Salted Chocolate Chip Cookies

I know what you're thinking: "You already created the perfect chocolate chip cookie Tanner, why would you bother with a new recipe." Well, you see, curious blog reader, I've been intrigued with salt lately, as it is all the rage with the foodie types...

Specifically, I picked up a jar of flaked gray sea salt. Knowing that compliments caramel wonderfully (despite my own failures in that area) I figured a little salt would work in a cookie too.

These are a pretty standard cookie recipe with basically the addition of flaked salt. You can make them with a bowl and a spoon. I might have added more salt than was necessary. I was excited about my salt.

The end result was awesome. With each bite you get a little crunch of the salt, but then the creamy chocolate comes to balance it out. Maybe not for everyone, but I'll definitely be adding flaked salt to my chocolate chip cookies from now on.

  1. Yum! Salt and chocolate-- two of my favorite things! Sad I didn't get to sample these.
